“水袖”是戏曲服装(zhuang)袖端所缀白绸，因(yin)其(qi)甩动时形似水波而(er)得名。水袖是对(dui)古代服饰(shi)衣袖的(de)夸(kua)张展(zhan)现，是戏装(zhuang)的(de)重(zhong)要组成部分。戏曲舞台上演(yan)员可以利用水袖的(de)舞动来表现剧中人物的(de)身份、性(xing)格与感情，增(zeng)加人物的(de)美感。

Water sleevesare long white silk cloth attached to the cuffs of traditional opera costumes, named for their resemblance to rippling water when waved. Water sleeves isan exaggerated display of ancient garment sleeves and an integral part of traditional opera costumes.
